This project transforms the upper part of the house through a carefully judged addition that makes full use of height, light and view. By extending upward rather than outward, the design increases accommodation while preserving garden space and making more intelligent use of the existing footprint.

A contemporary upper volume sits against the solidity of the original brick house, creating a clear dialogue between old and new. Internally, the new rooms are shaped to maximise daylight, outlook and privacy, giving the home a greater sense of amplitude and possibility. The project demonstrates how constrained urban sites can produce highly desirable living spaces when section, volume and orientation are handled with care.

A vertical extension that creates new upper-level space, stronger outlook and a more expansive relationship to the city beyond.
